Parents, by registering your children in the St. Pius X Faith Formation Program, you and your children agree to cooperate with the outcome of the Faith Formation program.
Faith Formation
The role that the parents play in their child’s formation in the Catholic faith is essential. As noted in the Catechism of the Catholic church (CCC): “The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitutes. Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children. Through the grace of the sacrament of marriage, parents receive the responsibility and privilege of evangelizing their children. Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have their mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. Children in turn contribute to the growth in holiness of their parents. The parish is the Eucharistic community and heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents.”
An expectation for parents and students is participation in the sacramental life of the Church, i.e. Sunday Mass. Regular reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged. The parish faith formation program is designed to support the catechesis that is to be taking place in the home. The parish faith formations program is not to take the place of faith formation in the home. The faith formation program at St. Pius X is for all parishioners-from children to adults. In this, we see that conversion and learning the truths of the Catholic faith are lifelong.
