Saint Agnes Youth Group Vision and Mission
VISION: To provide the spiritual tools for the youth of our parish to be prepared for situations that they will encounter in their daily lives, and by living the Word of God, they will be empowered to impact every person they meet by becoming a reflection of Christ.
MISSION : We are all committed to instill, nurture, and empower Catholic values in living the gospel of Jesus Christ in the youth of St. Agnes’ Parish. The St. Agnes Youth Program is formed to address the spiritual, social, athletic, and academic needs of the youth. The Youth Committee will provide developmentally appropriate programs and activities that promote the faith growth of adolescence, thereby enriching family life.
GUIDELINES: Note: these are “working guidelines" and are subject to change.
- All Event Leaders and Chaperones will be CORI (Criminal Offender Records Investigation) checked, will complete Protecting God’s Children training prior to leading an event and will be interviewed by an adult member of the Youth Committee.
- During the interview the Youth Committee member will review these guidelines with the candidate to ensure the candidate is in agreement with them and able to perform their function as an Event Leader or Chaperone.
- Two adults will be present with each youth, to ensure the comfort and safety of all present.
- For any travel events, a bus will be rented. Everyone will be required to travel to and from the event on the bus.
- The following are the adult to youth requirement
- A minimum of 2 adults per event
- Grades 6-8 1 Adult for every 8 Youth
- Grades 9-12 1 Adult for every 15 Youth
- Depending on event, consideration will be given to having an extra Chaperone float.
- Event Leaders and their Chaperones should consider having youth check in at regular intervals.
- Event Leaders and Chaperones should agree on and keep track of assigned youth.
- If any youth, Event Leader or Chaperone breaks a Program Guideline they will/may be banned from the next event, possibly for the remainder of the year. The final decision will be made by the Youth Committee.
- Every youth will register in the program using the appropriate form.
- Every youth will have a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian to participate in/attend an event.
- The St. Agnes Youth Program has been designed for the enrichment and enjoyment of St. Agnes youth. Should a parish youth wish to bring a guest from outside the parish, the guest and their parents must complete the required consent and registration forms. The Event Leader working with the Youth Committee will review the request and determine if space is available to invite the guest. The Event Leader will contact the St. Agnes youth to inform them if their guest can be included.
