Parish Day Celebration and Fundraiser
On October 6, we celebrated our yearly Parish Day Celebration and Fundraiser
What is a Parish Day Celebration?
In Acts 3:44.46b we read: "all who believed shared all things in common. With exaltation and sincere hearts they took their meals in common, praising God and winning the approval of all people."
Creating a happy family out of 4 distinct church communities brought toghether by a merger takes time, prayer, collaboration and patience. The parish day celebration was a chance for everyone in the parish to get together in one place and celebrate that which unites us, our faith, within the contexts of diversity.
A parish day is a day when our diversity gives way to unity. We may call this a diversity day but it is also a homecoming day. It was a homecoming day for all former parishioners or relatives of former parishioners to return and visit the church. The parish day allows us to celebrate the beauty of difference in the dresses we wear, the food whe share, the music we play and the dances we showcase.
All this is done in the context of faith, after all we are Living Stones; a community of believers, who desire to know Christ personally, and are committed to make Christ known to others. We are family in Christ.
We were very happy that Bishop Robert W. Finn was the main celebrant for our Mass at 11:00 am in honor
of Our Lady Of Peace, our Patron Saint on Sunday, October 6, 2013
