Mission Statement
Infant Jesus of Prague, from its origin in 1956 as a mission parish in the south suburbs of Chicago, has grown to be a strong, vibrant parish composed of believing people gifted by the Holy Spirit and coming from varied cultural and ethnic traditions. As a Catholic parish, Infant Jesus of Prague is established to hear the Word of Christ, heed the Word of Christ, and live the Word of Christ. Our parish is located in a community blessed with many resources and with opportunities to extend those resources to those around us. The mission of Infant Jesus of Prague Parish, centered in the Eucharistic Celebration of Jesus Christ our Lord, is to nourish the spiritual growth and to enrich the sacramental life of our parishioners so that we can live and witness the Gospel message of faith, hope, reconciliation and love. We are a community of prayer and accept our responsibility to pray regularly with and for one another. We encourage and foster the development of smaller communities within our large parish so that individuals and families can feel personally involved. We accept the challenge of relating these smaller communities to one another and to the parish as a unified family. We seek to create a framework for spiritual growth through an environment of shared ministry between clergy, religious and laity. We work to provide Catholic education and formation for ministry in a variety of ways to seekers of all ages and levels of faith. We strive to help all to achieve a welcoming and caring parish family by living our faith both within and throughout our community. Our spiritual journey, as individual Christians, as families, and as a community of believers emboldens us to build the City of God.. Our spiritual journey, as individual Christians, as families, and as a community of believers emboldens us to build the City of God.
